One of our favorite kinds of videos to produce is the kind that gives us the chance to learn while we work, a spectacular location or two doesn't hurt either. A repeat client of ours, Kantar offers us just this type of opportunity when we produce the video content for their annual Digital CMO Summit. We get to document the world’s leading brands, agencies and media companies as they come together to explore and discuss the digital forces transforming their businesses. It's inspiring to capture these industry leaders coming together to share marketing ideas and best practices in this digital age.
This was our 3rd year in a row producing corporate video content for the DCMO Summit. We were back in South Beach for the 2nd year in a row at the Fontainebleau Miami Beach. Designed by Morris Lapidus, the Fontainebleau is one of the most historically and architecturally significant hotels on Miami Beach. The hotel is rich in film and video production history having starred alongside legends such as Frank Sinatra and Jerry Lewis. The hotel has also provided the backdrop for dozens of films including the 1964 James Bond film Goldfinger, the 1983 masterpiece Scarface and even an episode of The Sopranos (HBO). Not a bad locale for a corporate video production.
Shooting live events is not easy - you only get one take - so preparedness and anticipation of unexpected events is key to success. There are no second chances during a live video shoot.
On the other side of the spectrum, I always look forward to shooting the industry leader interviews. During this time I have total control over my environment including my lighting setup, and overall timing. For the interviews, we used the Canon 5d3 DLSR cameras to take advantage of the full frame sensor. The full frame sensor allows for a very shallow depth of field. This provides a super cinematic yet commercial look.
Some of the incredible speakers included:Chris Copeland, CEO, GroupM NextRob Norman, Chief Digital Officer, Group Brad Smallwood, VP Measurement and Insights, FacebookJeffrey Graham, Global Ad Research Director, TwitterEdwin Wong, Senior Director of B2B Strategic Insights at Yahoo!
Our second location was a stunning villa located on the intracoastal waterway. The evening event was held at Miami Beach’s Villa Terra Veritatis – an 18,100 square foot mansion on 2.5 acres of waterfront property. Time for some aerial photography!
